Amtrak Restores Second Train Between Seattle and Vancouver, BC

After a three-year suspension, Amtrak is restoring the second Amtrak Cascades frequency between Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC starting Monday, March 6, 2023. The second train was removed shortly after the start of the pandemic in 2020.

The reintroduction of the second train will enable passengers to travel from Vancouver, BC through Seattle to Portland without changing trains in Seattle. Presently, the one train is a morning train between Seattle and Vancouver and an evening train in the reverse that doesn’t provide connections in Seattle.

The restored second frequency is an afternoon departure from Portland, an evening departure from Seattle, and a late evening arrival into Vancouver. The return train departs Vancouver early, with a morning arrival in Seattle and a mid-afternoon arrival in Portland.
